There are sixteen chapters in this book. My recommendation is to have the group read one chapter prior to each class. As they read, have them write down comments about any part of the chapter they could relate to personally. Also, encourage them to write down any questions they may have about the material presented in the chapter. During each class, use these comments and questions to promote lively group discussions. Also, be prepared to bring your own life examples. When people feel they can relate, they will be more apt to share their own ideas. The neat thing is, the more people that share their personal thoughts and experiences, the farther the group can go beyond the limits of my experiences and what I was able to put in the book. I am still gaining insight from the ideas people share as I talk with them about *Created to be Creative. As a group leader, you will want to keep the discussion moving towards a constructive end. It is very possible that some in your group will come with frustrations, or even negative comments. They may not see how they can apply the concepts in this book to their own lives. You must be ready to show them how they can grow and develop past whatever hindrances they face. Much of this is discussed in the book, but be ready to offer reassurance if needed. Do you teach or attend a Sunday School Class? Created to be Creative is an excellent resource for groups that want to find ways to use their talents for the Lord. We are not all called to preach from a church pulpit. Nevertheless, each of us can effectively share the gospel within our own sphere of influence. Regardless of your age or place in life, if you have a desire to be used of God, this book can help you find, develop, and utilize the talents God has given you. Reasons to use Created to be Creative in your Study Group Encouragement ~ Group involvement fosters the development of creative growth and gives those of us who don’t feel very creative the support we need to get started. Development ~ Acting creatively is more than the ability to be good at traditional arts, so as we open our eyes, along with our heart, we will see the possibilities. Discussing how creativity applies to all areas of life will help bring about ideas not previously considered and this is a great motivator! As we find our niche, we will learn that becoming creative is a process, not an event, and it is always nice to get those encouraging words when it seems hard to continue. Expansion of Talents ~ Even if we are already talented, discussing creative topics with others will increase our scope and help us discover ways to enhance our abilities for the Lord’s purposes. Purpose Beyond Us ~ The benefits of creative activity start on a personal level, blessing us both mentally and emotionally. But when our abilities increase, we need to prayerfully consider how we can use them to bless others. A whole chapter of the book is dedicated to the idea that God has a purpose for giving us talents and we can encourage each other to use those talents for His purpose. Scriptural Premise ~ There are scriptures throughout the book that show God’s purpose for creating us in His image and that give substance to the creative concepts presented.
